• The IPL is a quick procedure that does not harm any other tissues.  

• It uses light energy to target a certain color in your skin. As the skin is heated, your body gets rid of the unwanted cells that cause skin discoloration.  

• During the treatment, the IPL device’s tip touches your skin after the gel is applied.  

• The treatment may or may not sting, so please let the practitioner know if you have sensitive skin so a numbing cream can be applied before the procedure. This happens only in rare instances.  

• Please know that your face will feel a bit sunburned after the treatment. Some redness, swelling, or bruising will occur. Dark spots will get darker before they fall off.  

• Depending on the severity of the condition, the process takes a series of sessions to complete for most people, with visits spaced apart.
• It might take time for gradual changes to take place in your skin. The results should be more evident after your initial treatments as improvements build upon each ongoing treatment.
• After the entire process, you will have an even skin tone, making you look younger.

IPL Precautionary Measures

We do not recommend coming in for IPL under the following conditions:

• If you have been tanning in the sun, in bed, or with tanning creams recently
• If you have just gone through waxing, chemical peeling, or collagen shots recently
• If you take any medication that makes you sun-sensitive (for example, antibiotic doxycycline)
• If you have been diagnosed with skin cancer
• If you are using a retinoid cream
• If you are very dark-skinned
